Immerse yourself in five days of learning how to transform raw fish skins into beautiful leather using 100% natural tannins and dyes. Fish leather can be used in many ways — from wallets and jewelry to clothing and shoes. It’s an ancient skill practiced in many parts of the world.
You will take home 5–10 pieces of finished fish leather, depending on how many skins you are able to scrape. You will also take home the knowledge to tan fish skins in your own home kitchen tannery.
This workshop is offered on a sliding-scale of rates to make registration more accessible. Please pay what you can truly afford. If you are able to sponsor a student, your generosity will make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
Included in the cost of registration:
bell tent camping accommodation
light snacks and beverages
access to running water, showers, ocean swimming, and other amenities
all workshop supplies and tools
an ebook of instructions
a welcoming community of people who share a love for fish and the slow-living ways of our ancestors
