Part chemistry and part magic, in this 3 part intermediate/advanced level class we will cover the fundamentals of dyeing fish leather using 100% natural dyes, some of which may found in your home, supermarket, or garden. Together we will tan our fish skins using methods I have relied on that are conducive to natural dyeing. We will explore and experiment with different dyes and discover how they interact with fish skin, ways to get beautiful coloured leather and the quality that you desire. We will also cover many other tips, tricks and techniques that will take your home fish skin tanning practice to a new level!
You are encouraged to workalong with me to ensure you have the best learning experience!
An optional Rainbow Supply Kit is available for purchase in advance and will be mailed to you, OR you may assemble your own based on the supply list provided after registration.
STUDENTS OUTSIDE OF CANADA: There may be restrictions and high postage rates may apply. You are encouraged to purchase supplies through Maiwa. Please contact me for guidance with this.

The sliding scale is a tool that allows for a product or service to be obtained at multiple price points based on the circumstances of the purchaser. This method allows folks who would most likely be priced out of something to have the chance to take part in it. It also seeks to address the systemic inequalities of class in our culture.
